balloons over del mar…
…this weekend was Sunshine’s birthday. To celebrate, we took a hot-air balloon ride for sunset over Del Mar:
Being up 5000 feet makes for some interesting angles with the setting sun:
Some balloon-y pics:
And a few pictures of the happy couple…
And one final parting shot, a bit of irony taken from the balloon at 4200 feet:

Hi, Ronald, thanks for the kind words…
Regarding the dates, I presume you’re referring to the sidebar of Archives links; these are generated by the template (Krakal) I’m using for the WordPress blog I’m running. I agree that it would be optimal for all beings to present and write dates in a common fashion (I’m in software and have spent more than a fair amount of my career wrangling bad date conversions and the like).
However, the urge to see that commonality is OVERWHELMINGLY superceded by the amount of free time I *don’t* have. Sorry, you’ll just have to count me as one of the apathetic disaffected Date Confusers.
But thanks for coming by! Cheers, -k
I saw your image on APOD, and when I saw the missionblvd.com and Ocean Beach in the description, I knew I had to head over. I had to move away from SD because of a job (I am now in LA County, but still a Padres fan), and your photos provided me with a nice mini-trip back. I really like your photography, especially your sense of composition (i.e. the Obama poster image). I always find composition the most difficult thing for myself, and appreciate it even more when I see it well done.
Anyway, I will be sure to bookmark this site and visit often. BTW, have you posted any pics from Pacific Highway, especially from around the old Pannikan Coffeehouse? That was one of my favorite places to go and read.
Peace,
Erik
Keith,
AWESOME PICTURES!! Wow you are a really talented photographer. Thank you for correcting me on the photo location – I saw the rocks and saw it say “Ocean Beach,” I just assumed it was San Francisco. Wrong assumption, but I suppose a natural one given my location in Northern California.
Anyway, thanks for the comment and I will be sure to not only change it, but link to your page so everybody can come see your great pics!
Have a great weekend,
Sarah
