portland flashed us a little titty this weekend…

(Went north to Portland for my birthday, to hang out with Scott and see what made Portland weird. Liked a lot of what we saw, and the weather wasn’t as bad as advertised (oh, but that’s a bold statement). Anyway, these pictures are from throughout this weekend…)

First, the street art: I’m getting more and more into shooting (and possibly making some of) this:

(Upper Playground is currently blowing up huge with their Shepherd Fairey Obama posters.)

Near the Saturday Markets:

There’s a neat little park right near Powell’s, with a cool little forever bowl of water:

Sunshine looked good in the park, in her new Glass Alchemy sweatshirt (another feature of Portland):

During our explorations, I found this in a Starbucks bathroom–talk about anal retentive:

It rained a lot the first day. Second day, it stayed mostly clear, with occasional showers. Not a lot of picture taking, but did hang out with Satan both days–somehow or another, I never got a picture of him. The A((Wake)) show Friday nite was tight–great rythym section, but they seriously need a front. Hmm.

Sunday, Portland really lifted her skirts and showed us a bright blue day–we drove deep into east Portland, to feed our crack addiction (Magic cards), and then turned south to head towards Jefferson, via Lake Oswego. We ended up going too far east for Oswego, but did catch some cool waterfall and irrigation action:

Dude…you could totally turn this into a bong…

As we headed further south, the rainfront came in weird, scalloped clouds, that marched in on a decidedly coherent front, and then just, stopped…these are some of the strangest pictures I’ve ever taken:

I tried to get some panoramic pieces, but the parallax is too great and they don’t really join very well. Unfortunately, I was a little rushed, and didn’t think to shoot it with the fisheye. Now, in retrospect, I really wish I’d fired a couple off. Oh well…they’re still interesting shots:

I missed several chances to get a good shot of Mt. Hood, as well. Just wasn’t on top of my game.

As we were leaving, we saw this as a final parting shot, a beautiful sunrise over the Willamette:
