…and provide me with an excuse to post. (Coz obviously I can’t be buggered these days to get it together on my own…).
1. Go to your first photo file and pick the 10th photo in it.
2. Tell the story behind the photo.
3. Tag 5 other people to do likewise.
That picture was taken October 3, 1999, and was taken here:
I spent half of 1998 and all of 1999 in Perth, Western Australia. Living in such a wonderful, wild place inspired me to finally break down and buy my first camera, a Kodak DC 260 (it had a scripting language!). This is literally the 10th picture I’d ever taken–notice how out of focus and grainy it is–but the rocks in the foreground are in wonderful focus! And of course, one can’t ignore the vaguely drunken horizon, or the totally sophmoric composition: I was really interested in the jebus rays streaming down over the end of the quay, but instead managed to feature the vast expanse of concrete…sigh.
Truth be told, I really don’t have any satisfying pictures from my time in Oz: I got the camera way too late, and October was just the beginning of the seriously hellish period after the end of our contract with MOJ, when my employer from the States fired me while I was still in Oz and basically abandoned me to get my family and pets back to the US on my own. We took a planned vacation to the Gold Coast and Queensland to do some diving, but I eventually got back to California just after Thanksgiving, and was employed and had my family back in the states before Christmas…
I really loved Oz, and miss many of the friends I made there–I would move back there for good in a heartbeat.
