hollywood sign and C&O trattoria…

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

…in celebration of my birthday, we did a quick day-trip to LA.  Traffic both ways was fairly light, and each direction only took two hours of serious driving…

We started out at Griffith Park, heading up Mount Lee, to see the infamous Hollywood sign (it seemed like one of those things you just should do, so we did it).  A simple, if slightly hilly, 3-mile trek was all it took:

It turned out to be a beautiful day: a little warm, with a nice breeze.  We were up and down the mountain in just under an hour.  Frankly, we spent way more time in the car today than doing anything.  But to reward ourselves, we finished the day with an early supper at C & O Trattoria, one of my favoritest restaurants in the whole damn world.

These are what we really went to LA for: the “Killer Garlic Balls”…

A nice, low-key way to spend the day, with great hiking, great food and great company…
